Walmart recalls Bettergoods frozen pasta over listeria risk

Résumé

The FDA has issued a recall of Bettergoods frozen pasta sold at Walmart nationwide after routine testing detected possible listeria contamination, urging consumers not to eat the product and to return it for a refund.

The Food and Drug Administration announced a recall of Bettergoods frozen Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine sold at Walmart stores across the United States after routine testing identified possible listeria contamination. The 22-ounce packages, marked with lot codes L6079C and L6080C and expiration dates in September 2027, are being withdrawn while the manufacturer, Gias Foods, halts production pending investigation.

"Consumers should not eat the recalled pasta and can return the affected products to the place of purchase for a full refund," the FDA advised.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious illness, particularly in older adults, pregnant individuals, young children and those with weakened immune systems. The agency recommends that anyone who has purchased the product refrain from consumption and seek a refund. Questions can be directed to Gias Foods at [email protected].

Health officials note that listeria symptoms may appear from the same day up to ten weeks after exposure and include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, gastrointestinal issues and, in severe cases, miscarriage or death. Individuals in high-risk groups who develop flu-like symptoms after eating the pasta should seek medical attention.
