Senate Democrats Seek DOJ Records on Tom Homan Bribery Investigation
Senate Democrats have requested the Department of Justice to release documents related to an investigation into White House border czar Tom Homan's alleged acceptance of a $50,000 bribe.
Senate Democrats have formally requested the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release documents pertaining to an investigation into White House border czar Tom Homan's alleged acceptance of a $50,000 bribe from undercover FBI agents. The investigation was reportedly closed by the Trump administration.
In a letter addressed to Attorney General Pam Bondi, the senators expressed concern over the premature closure of the probe and emphasized the importance of transparency. They stated, "It is critical that the American people be able to trust that the influence of White House and other government officials has not been bought, and that contracts will be awarded to companies based on merit, not to those willing to pay bribes."
The letter, led by Senators Gary Peters (D-Mich.), Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), and Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), and co-signed by Senators John Fetterman (D-Pa.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Andy Kim (D-N.J.), and Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), also requested FBI Director Kash Patel to provide all related files, including any audio or video recordings of the alleged transaction.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt denied the allegations, stating, "This was another example of the weaponization of the Biden Department of Justice against one of President Trump’s strongest and most vocal supporters in the midst of a presidential campaign." She further asserted that "Mr. Homan did absolutely nothing wrong."
Homan himself dismissed the allegations as a "hit piece," stating, "Look, I did nothing criminal. I did nothing illegal."
The DOJ has not yet responded to the senators' request for the release of the investigation documents.
