Genocide Scholars' Association Accuses Israel of Genocide in Gaza
The International Association of Genocide Scholars has passed a resolution stating that Israel's actions in Gaza meet the legal definition of genocide, prompting strong rejection from Israeli officials.
The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) has passed a resolution asserting that Israel's actions in Gaza meet the legal definition of genocide. The resolution, supported by 86% of voting members, cites deliberate attacks on civilians, deprivation of essential resources, and forced displacement as evidence.
Israel's Foreign Ministry has strongly rejected the resolution, calling it "disgraceful" and accusing the IAGS of basing its findings on unverified information.
The IAGS resolution also calls on Israel to cease actions constituting genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, and urges member states to uphold their obligations under international law.
