Google Unveils Pixel 10 Series with Enhanced AI-Powered Camera Features
Google introduces the Pixel 10 series, featuring advanced AI-driven camera capabilities, including 'Camera Coach' and 'Pro Res Zoom' up to 100x magnification.
Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 10 series, introducing a suite of advanced AI-driven camera features aimed at enhancing user photography experiences. The standard Pixel 10 model now includes a dedicated 5x telephoto lens, a first for base models, offering up to 20x Super Res Zoom. However, this addition comes with a trade-off, as the main camera sensor has been downgraded from a 50MP sensor on the Pixel 9 to a 48MP sensor sourced from the Pixel 9a.
The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL models introduce 'Pro Res Zoom,' enabling up to 100x magnification through advanced AI processing. This feature relies heavily on AI to upscale and enhance photos, making it ideal for capturing distant subjects.
All Pixel 10 models benefit from new AI features powered by the Tensor G5 chip and enhanced Gemini models. 'Camera Coach' provides real-time, on-screen feedback to assist users in improving framing and composition, offering suggestions on angles, zoom levels, and modes like Portrait. Additionally, the 'Guided Frame' feature has been enhanced to provide full image descriptions for all scenes, making it a valuable tool for users with visual impairments.
The 'Auto Best Take' feature, first introduced on the Pixel 8, has been automated in the Pixel 10 series. When capturing group photos, the camera analyzes up to 150 frames to select the best facial expression for each person, seamlessly blending them to create the optimal shot without manual intervention.
For the first time, Pixel 10 devices include built-in support for the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) standard. This technology catalogs and documents any AI-based edits an image has undergone, promoting transparency in an era of sophisticated AI-powered photo manipulation.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold introduces 'Instant View,' displaying a carousel of recent photos next to the viewfinder on its larger internal display, allowing for quick review and comparison without leaving the camera app.
Google has also improved Portrait mode with better segmentation, resulting in more accurate separation of subjects from the background for sharper, more professional-looking portraits. Additionally, all Pixel 10 models can now shoot video at a cinematic 24 frames per second across all resolutions. The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL support 8K video recording at 24fps with the help of Video Boost, though this requires processing through Google Photos.
