Google's Pixel 10 Series to Launch with Enhanced Features Amid Calls for Unlimited Photo Storage
Google is set to unveil the Pixel 10 series on August 20, introducing significant upgrades, while discussions arise about reinstating unlimited Google Photos storage to compete with Apple's upcoming iPhone 17.
Google is scheduled to unveil its Pixel 10 series on August 20, 2025, at the 'Made by Google' event. The lineup is expected to include the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Anticipated enhancements across the series include 60W fast charging for all models, the addition of a telephoto camera to the base Pixel 10, and an IP68 resistance rating for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is rumored to be the first foldable smartphone to feature an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, potentially surpassing competitors like Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7, which holds an IP48 rating.
Historically, early Google Pixel models offered unlimited full-resolution Google Photos storage, a feature that was discontinued in June 2021. Since then, photos and videos have counted against the user's Google Drive storage quota, which offers 15GB for free, with additional storage available through Google One subscriptions.
As Apple prepares to reveal its iPhone 17 series in September, discussions have emerged about Google potentially reinstating unlimited Google Photos storage for Pixel users to maintain a competitive edge. However, there are no current indications that Google plans to reintroduce this feature.
In the interim, Google has offered other incentives, such as a year's subscription to Gemini Advanced with the purchase of certain Pixel models. It remains to be seen what additional perks, if any, will accompany the Pixel 10 series upon its release.
