Former captain Mark Taylor warns revisiting sandpaper scandal distracts cricket
Former Australian captain Mark Taylor said that revisiting the 2018 sand-paper ball-tampering scandal distracts from cricket and could affect the upcoming season. Usman Khawaja claimed in his autobiography that every member of the 2018 Australian side was aware of the sandpaper used to alter the ball in the final Test against South Africa.
Cricket Australia stood by its 2018 integrity findings, while a former ethics director called for a fresh review. Cameron Bancroft, identified as the player who used the sandpaper, said he is focused on his batting, according to Western Australia coach Beau Casson.
