Anthony Lim to become DBS Group chairman in 2027
Anthony Lim, a former senior executive at GIC and current independent director, will succeed Peter Seah as chairman of DBS Group on Jan. 1, 2027.
Singapore's DBS Group announced that Anthony Lim will assume the role of chairman on Jan. 1, 2027, succeeding Peter Seah, who will retire after 16 years in the position. Lim, 68, joined the bank as an independent director on Apr. 1, 2020 and currently chairs the Compensation and Management Development Committee while serving on the Board Executive and Risk Management committees.
The bank said Lim was chosen through a structured succession planning process, citing his deep understanding of DBS's culture and strategy, extensive global financial-markets experience, and expertise in risk management. He has been involved in succession planning for senior management, including the transition from former CEO Piyush Gupta to current CEO Tan Su Shan, who took over in March 2025.
"Lim consistently contributed perspectives on geopolitics, risk management, organisational leadership and talent development during board deliberations," Tan Su Shan said.
Lim spent 19 years at Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC, holding senior leadership roles in London, New York and across the Americas before retiring from executive duties in 2017. Earlier in his career he worked at Bankers Trust and the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He also holds directorships at CapitaLand Investment, the Central Provident Fund and several charitable boards, and serves as a senior international adviser to Temasek International Advisors.
Seah will step down from the board on Dec. 31, 2026 and will serve as a senior adviser for one year thereafter.
