LIV Golf to Wind Down After Funding Pullout, Lawyer Says
A lawyer for LIV Golf told a New Jersey bankruptcy court that the league will not pursue the planned LIV 2. 0 series and will instead focus on a value-maximizing wind-down of its operations.
The decision follows the withdrawal of a proposed $300 million investment by private-equity firm BC Partners, which was pulled after the league failed to secure sufficient player commitments, raising the likelihood of liquidation. Earlier, Rory McIlroy publicly backed the DP World Tour’s plan to readmit former LIV players for the 2027 season and criticized LIV Golf’s impact on the sport, warning that participation could affect Ryder Cup captaincy eligibility.
