Rory McIlroy backs DP World Tour, warns LIV Golf threatens Ryder Cup eligibility
Rory McIlroy said in Abu Dhabi that he backs DP World Tour CEO Guy Kinnings' view that LIV Golf has turned professional golf into an "arms race" and warned that participation in LIV could jeopardize a player's eligibility for Ryder Cup captaincy. He had earlier endorsed the tour's plan to readmit former LIV members for the 2027 season, calling it a needed reset for the sport. At the same time, BC Partners announced it was pulling its $300 million commitment to a new LIV series, prompting the league to focus on liquidating its assets.
