U.S. Treasury yields fall as midterms conclude and jobs data looms
CNBC reported that U. S. Treasury yields fell across the curve on November 5 after the midterm elections, as investors turned to upcoming weekly jobless claims and the October payroll report. The yield decline followed the Democrats' sweeping victory in both chambers of Congress on November 3, which had pushed the U. S. dollar to a one-month low and lifted gold and Treasury bonds.
Reuters noted that chip stocks and the dollar slipped while oil steadied, and The Straits Times added that U. S. equities rose alongside gold. Earlier, The Guardian and FXStreet observed the dollar slipping to around 101. 30 as early returns showed Democrats leading in the House and retaining a key Senate seat in Georgia.
