LHCb collaboration observes first ultra-rare beauty-particle decay at CERN
The LHCb collaboration at CERN announced that it has observed evidence of an ultra-rare beauty-particle decay that occurs in roughly one out of ten billion decays, providing a novel test of the Standard Model and a view into the so-called Zeptoverse. Earlier, Sci. News reported that the measured decay rate of B0 mesons into muon pairs aligns with Standard Model predictions.
Mirage News added that the observation was made possible by an upgraded detector built by University of Liverpool researchers. BBC had previously highlighted that CERN physicists are probing interactions at scales a hundred billion times smaller than an atom, showing the experiment’s capability to explore fundamental forces.
