LHCb Confirms Rare B0 Meson Decay Matching Standard Model

The LHCb collaboration at CERN reported the observation of a rare decay of B0 mesons into pairs of muons, with a measured rate that aligns with Standard Model predictions. Earlier, the collaboration had announced the first evidence of an ultra-rare beauty-particle decay into two muons, made possible by an upgraded detector built by University of Liverpool researchers. Prior to that, CERN physicists used LHC data to probe particle interactions at scales a hundred billion times smaller than an atom, opening new avenues for studying fundamental forces and dark matter.
