Victorian police probe bullet hole in independent candidate's sign after assault arrests
Victorian Police said they were investigating a bullet hole discovered on 3 November in a campaign sign for independent candidate Dr Lachie McKeeman in Benambra, as the candidate called for an end to political violence and urged authorities to identify the shooter. The investigation was reported on 5 November.
Earlier on 3 November, police arrested a 37-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy after a One Nation volunteer was attacked with a baseball bat in Torquay, leaving the volunteer seriously injured and hospitalized. Political figures, including One Nation leader Pauline Hanson and state minister Ben Carroll, condemned the assault and urged an end to political violence.
