Foreign investors' biggest daily inflow lifts Indian shares despite low AI exposure
Foreign investors recorded their biggest single-day net purchase of Indian stocks in nearly six years lifting Indian equities, while lower oil prices and a reduced appetite for AI-related shares eased macro pressures, Reuters reported. The inflow, estimated at $1. 6 billion, followed a surge of foreign buying that saw investors snap up roughly Rs 15 trillion of shares the previous day, the largest one-day purchase in more than a year, the Economic Times said. Earlier in the fiscal year, foreign institutional investors had withdrawn about $64 billion from Indian equities over two years, and the market had slipped more than 8% in the Sensex and 7% in the Nifty amid high crude prices and rising U.
S. yields, Business Standard noted. Moneycontrol reported that foreign investors added $2. 28 billion in the ten days preceding the latest inflow, about half of it linked to Jio Platforms’ listing.
