Antonelli clinches 2026 F1 title, celebrates podium with Hamilton and Verstappen
Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli clinched the 2026 Formula 1 drivers’ championship at the Mexico City Grand Prix, becoming the sport’s youngest world champion, and said he will frame a photo of himself being lifted by Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen on the podium. He secured the title after finishing third in the race, a result that marked a historic achievement. Earlier in the season, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff praised Antonelli’s talent, saying the 20-year-old had already proven himself and could win multiple titles, while dismissing rumours of a move to Ferrari.
