Nine killed in Florida Learjet crash en route from Texas to Bahamas
A Learjet 60 carrying a Texas tech entrepreneur, his family, three other passengers and two pilots crashed onto a highway in Palm Beach County, killing all aboard while investigators examine possible causes.
A private Learjet 60 traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas crashed onto a multi-lane highway in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday, killing all nine people on board. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating whether ice accumulation, turbulence or human error contributed to the accident.
Among the victims were Texas tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp and their two children, aged four and two. Robinson founded RB2B, Retention.com and Moltsets, and had previously worked for Lehman Brothers and Barclays. Sharp was an artist.
Three other passengers—Rachel Reed, Charmi Fehr and Anita Maria Cetina—also died. The aircraft’s pilot was identified as 55-year-old Jeff Gregory, who had worked for the private charter firm East Coast Jets. The co-pilot was 20-year-old Nathalia Filgueiras, who earned her pilot’s licence at 17.
Air-traffic control audio captured the final moments of the flight, including the co-pilot reciting the Lord’s Prayer. Filgueiras had reportedly sent a message shortly before the crash indicating she was encountering turbulence and ice. The NTSB continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
