Tottenham beat Crystal Palace to claim third straight Premier League win
Tottenham Hotspur secured a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace after an early red card for Jean-Philippe Matda, moving the team into the top half of the table while Palace remain in the relegation zone.
Tottenham Hotspur took advantage of an early dismissal for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Matda to earn a 2-0 win and their third consecutive Premier League triumph. Matda was sent off after 13 minutes following a VAR review of a challenge on Spurs defender Micky van de Ven. Archie Gray gave Tottenham the lead in the 25th minute after heading in from a corner delivered by Mohammed Kudus.
Spurs continued to dominate the numerical advantage, with Dominic Solanke blocking a clear chance for Palace's Dwight McNeil after the break. The second goal came in the 73rd minute when defender Jan Paul van Hecke headed in from a rebound after Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson saved the initial effort.
The result lifted Tottenham, managed by Roberto De Zerbi, into the top half of the league table, while Palace, under coach Pierre Sage, remain in the bottom three with only two wins from nine matches.
"We are pleased with the win and the way the team responded after going a man down," a Tottenham spokesperson said.
"We will review the match and continue to work on improving our performances," Sage said after the defeat.
Palace's poor marking on the Kudus corner and the early red card were highlighted as key factors in the loss, leaving the club's relegation battle unresolved.
