National Conference MLAs confront leadership over adviser amid ultimatum
Senior National Conference legislators met on 6 November in Srinagar and openly criticised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s adviser Nasir Aslam Wani, prompting a temporary cease-fire and the promise of consultative committees, News18 reported. The confrontation followed a series of dissent actions that began on 30 October, when The Hindu said seventeen NC lawmakers gathered and gave party president Farooq Abdullah and vice-president Omar Abdullah a 15-day ultimatum to address unilateral decisions and a perceived coterie culture. NDTV later reported that about two dozen legislators passed a resolution demanding the dismissal of the adviser and several ministers.
India Today noted that 25 MLAs issued a 14-day deadline threatening to withdraw support after a recent cabinet expansion. Greater Kashmir quoted Farooq Abdullah saying the party remained united and that the grievances of roughly 16 legislators would be addressed.
