Four Palestinians killed in Gaza amid ongoing Israeli attacks
Israeli strikes in Gaza killed at least four Palestinians on Saturday, including a teacher in Nuseirat refugee camp, as the death toll rises since the ceasefire began.
At least four Palestinians were killed in Gaza on Saturday as Israeli forces continued air and artillery strikes, according to local health officials. The attacks hit the Nuseirat refugee camp, where teacher Diaa Abu al-Rous died, al-Awda Hospital reported. A separate strike on a vehicle in the Tel al-Hawa neighbourhood southwest of Gaza City killed Arafat al-Arair, a medical source at al-Shifa Hospital confirmed. Two girls also died after a tent fire at a displaced-people camp in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, with Nasser Medical Complex confirming their deaths, though the cause of the fire was not established.
The Gaza Ministry of Health said six Palestinians had been killed and 26 injured in the past 48 hours, bringing the cumulative death toll since the October 2025 ceasefire to 1,580. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights warned that Israeli actions were displacing residents and damaging remaining civilian infrastructure, noting concerns about forced population movements.
Al Jazeera reporter Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah, said residents reported Israeli fire aimed at civilians to push them from eastern parts of the city, describing an adjustment of the yellow demarcation line. Since the ceasefire began a year ago, Gaza’s health ministry has recorded at least 1,580 deaths and 5,711 injuries.
Efforts to negotiate a permanent end to the conflict under President Donald Trump’s peace plan have stalled, and reconstruction has not started due to disagreements between Hamas and Israel over the plan’s implementation. Hamas says it will not fully disarm until Israel withdraws completely, while Israel says it will remain until Hamas relinquishes its weapons.
