Nintendo's Ocarina of Time remake set for November 5 launch
Nintendo will release a remastered version of Ocarina of Time on Nov. 5, with early reviews giving it high scores ahead of its worldwide rollout.
Nintendo announced that the remastered edition of Ocarina of Time will launch on Nov. 5, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Zelda franchise. The game, a modernized version of the original 1990s title, will roll out gradually across regions.
Pre-release aggregators show a Metacritic score of 96 out of 100, placing it among the highest-rated titles of 2026 so far. Producer Eiji Aonuma told AFP in October that he felt "all nervous" about the launch and was uncertain how it would be received.
"I don’t know how it’s going to turn out, I can’t stop thinking about it," Aonuma said.
Early reviews have been positive. IGN described the game as an "exceptional remake of an incredible game and a rich adventure that stands on its own," while The Guardian’s Keza MacDonald gave it five stars, noting that Nintendo’s team turned a classic into a standout title for the 2020s.
"Nintendo’s modern Zelda team have turned one of the best games of the 1990s into one of the best games of the 2020s, and made time-travellers out of us all," MacDonald wrote.
