Toronto real estate CEO and daughters injured in Bridle Path home invasion

Resumen

A Toronto real estate executive, his two adult daughters and his wife were attacked in a home invasion; three family members were shot and all four were struck with a hammer, while police seek three suspects.

A violent home invasion in Toronto's Bridle Path early Thursday left 75-year-old David Morton, chief executive of THE MAC Group, and his two daughters, 26 and 28, hospitalized after being shot. Morton's wife, Doriana Zohil-Morton, was also struck with a hammer but has been released from the hospital.

Morton issued a family statement saying the incident turned the safety of their home into a "terrifying and life-threatening experience" and urging that "people should be able to sleep peacefully in their homes without fear of armed individuals breaking in and threatening their lives."

Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw announced that officers are pursuing three male suspects, described as approximately 20 years old, thin-built, wearing dark clothing and face masks. The suspects entered the property through the rear, confronted the occupants on the second floor, demanded valuables and fired multiple firearms before fleeing in a dark-coloured SUV.

Chief Demkiw said the police will maintain a heightened presence in the neighbourhood and pledged a "relentless" effort to identify and apprehend those responsible, acknowledging the "devastating" impact on the family and the broader community.
