Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was fined a total of $35,823 by the NFL for wearing Caddix SmartStuds cleats that lack league approval. Williams has stated he will continue to wear the cleats without covering the logo, citing their benefits in preventing injuries.

The NFL initially fined Williams nearly $12,000 for wearing the unauthorized cleats in Week 6 and then imposed an additional $23,882 fine after he wore them again in Week 7. Despite the escalating penalties, Williams remains committed to using the footwear, which he believes enhances player safety on the field.
