Retailers report fulfillment delays for Zelda-themed Switch 2 launch

Resumen

Major retailers Walmart and Target are experiencing supply chain and inventory issues that are delaying or preventing the delivery of the special edition Nintendo Switch 2 tied to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The special edition Nintendo Switch 2 featuring The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time began shipping on Oct. 29, but several major retailers have reported problems fulfilling orders. Walmart notified some customers a day before the launch that it could not honor their Switch 2 orders, citing an oversell of inventory. The retailer said that while the orders will eventually be fulfilled once stock arrives at the affected stores, no cancellations will be issued.

In addition, Walmart stores received internal notices indicating that a supply-chain delay would temporarily prevent sales of the console, even when inventory was present on the sales floor. Some locations later received shipments, but staff were reportedly instructed not to scan or sell the product.

Target customers who pre-ordered the console online have also reported delays, with shipments pushed to mid-November or later. A number of Target shoppers say their orders were cancelled outright.

Both retailers have advised customers to check with individual stores for the most current status of their orders.
