Alphabet shares plunge over 12% as AI costs and ad slowdown hit earnings
Business Standard reported that Alphabet Inc. 's shares fell about 13% in Mountain View, California, after AI-related costs and weaker ad sales hit its third-quarter earnings.
Earlier, the company announced Q3 revenue of roughly $128 billion, beating estimates, while free cash flow dropped to about $9 billion, below analysts' expectations. AI-driven search generated less ad revenue than traditional search, and heavy infrastructure spending kept capital expenditures high, contributing to a sharp decline in net income.
