Canadian astronaut says spacewalk view of Earth was transformative
NASA and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk said a recent seven-hour spacewalk on the International Space Station gave him a new perspective on Earth.
Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk described a profound shift in perspective after a seven-hour spacewalk on the International Space Station on Thursday. Together with NASA astronaut Anil Menon, Kutryk installed seven of eight new solar panels during the EVA.
Speaking to media on Friday, Kutryk said the experience altered his outlook. > "The experience changed me," he told reporters.
He noted that viewing Earth from the vacuum of space highlighted the planet's beauty and fragility, and he plans to pause for the view again during a second spacewalk scheduled for next week.
