M62 eastbound lane closures cause up to 30-minute delays after collision

Resumen

Two lanes on the M62 between junctions 18 and 19 were closed following a traffic collision, leading to delays of up to half an hour before the road reopened around midday.

Emergency crews responded to a traffic collision on the eastbound side of the M62 on the morning of October 29, prompting the closure of two lanes between junction 18 at Simister Island and junction 19 at Heywood. The blockage caused queues to form as drivers approached the incident site.

National Highways confirmed that lanes three and four of the four-lane carriageway were shut and that emergency services were on scene, with recovery teams en route. The agency warned of delays of up to 30 minutes for traffic approaching the area.

The motorway was reopened to traffic at approximately lunchtime, allowing normal flow to resume.
