Microsoft launches voluntary exit programme for staff in India, US, UK and Canada
Microsoft announced a voluntary exit programme offering severance and transition support to eligible employees at level 70 and below in four countries, with a decision deadline of Dec. 1 for India.
Microsoft said on Monday it will roll out a voluntary exit programme for eligible staff in India, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. The initiative, described in a blog post by Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer Amy Coleman, targets employees at level 70 and below in participating teams and is intended to give workers a structured option to leave the company with financial and career-transition assistance.
Eligible participants will receive one month’s base salary for each completed year of service, continued health insurance and access to career-transition services. Employees in India must decide by Dec. 1 whether to accept the offer.
Coleman said the programme provides “a new choice to make that transition now with support” and allows businesses to adjust workforce levels to changing needs. She added that the offer will not be applied uniformly, as participation depends on individual business priorities, customer commitments and workforce requirements.
A Microsoft spokesperson noted that the company remains committed to investing in India’s talent and technology ecosystem, citing a $20.5 billion AI and cloud investment plan for 2025-2029 and a goal to equip 20 million Indians with AI skills by 2030.
