Apple launches iPad mini with OLED screen, A20 Pro chip and IP67 rating

Resumen

Apple introduced a new iPad mini featuring an 8.5-inch OLED display, the A20 Pro processor and water-dust resistance, with prices starting at Rs 82,900.

Apple unveiled its latest iPad mini, which now sports an 8.5-inch OLED display and a thinner, lighter chassis. The device is 5.4 mm thick, comes in Midnight and Starlight finishes and carries an IP67 rating for water and dust protection.

The new display includes a nano-texture option and can reach up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness, with 600 nits for both SDR and HDR content and a minimum brightness of 1 nit. Apple says the OLED panel offers higher contrast than the previous generation.

Powering the tablet is the A20 Pro chip, built on a 2 nm process. It features a 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators in each core and a dual 16-core Neural Engine, which Apple claims delivers up to 4.5 times faster AI performance and up to 2.7 times better graphics performance compared with the prior model.

The iPad mini also adds a 12 MP front camera with Center Stage positioned on the landscape edge, and a 12 MP rear camera that supports Smart HDR 4 and 4K video at 60 fps. Audio improvements include an Acoustic Display that routes sound through the screen and additional tweeters for clearer high frequencies.

Connectivity upgrades feature Apple’s custom wireless chip that enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread, while the C2 cellular modem promises up to 50 % faster cellular data speeds. The tablet runs iPadOS 27, which introduces Apple Intelligence tools for contextual searches and on-screen actions.

Storage options are 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. Prices start at Rs 82,900 for the base Wi-Fi model, with the Wi-Fi-only version listed at Rs 1,09,000.
