Apple Announces New iPad Mini with OLED Display and Water Resistance

Resumen

Apple unveiled a refreshed iPad Mini featuring an 8.5-inch OLED screen, IP67 water resistance and pricing starting at $699, with availability beginning November 6.

Apple introduced a new iPad Mini that will be available for order on Oct. 28 and hit stores on Nov. 6. The device starts at $699 for a 128 GB model, with 256 GB and 512 GB configurations priced at $799 and $999 respectively. It is equipped with an A20 processor, an 8.5-inch OLED display—up from the previous 8.3-inch LCD—and an IP67 water-resistance rating, allowing it to withstand immersion in water. The front-facing camera has been repositioned to the landscape edge for better alignment during video calls, and the tablet includes a through-screen speaker system marketed as Acoustic Display.

"The new iPad Mini is thinner and lighter than its predecessor and is the first iPad to offer water resistance," the product description notes.

The launch follows the recent announcement of the iPhone Duo and precedes an upcoming event where Apple is expected to showcase new Mac models.
