Jack Antonoff Criticizes Ed Sheeran for Yielding to Billionaire Pressure Over Macklemore
Jack Antonoff told The Guardian that Ed Sheeran missed a chance to resist billionaire interference after canceling Macklemore’s appearance on his tour.
Jack Antonoff said Ed Sheeran forfeited a "massive, beautiful opportunity" to oppose billionaire influence when the singer removed Macklemore from his Loop Tour after Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft threatened to cancel the shows. Antonoff told The Guardian that Sheeran could have cancelled the entire tour and performed free concerts to raise funds instead of complying with the promoter’s demands. > "The reason it’s not an anomaly or niche issue is because we all live in a world where billionaires are constantly telling us what to do," he added. Antonoff also noted that he had supported Palestinian rights before the controversy and had altered a lyric at a Berkeley concert on September 17 to include "Free Palestine," describing the statement as a "deeply human" expression. The Gillette Stadium concerts were later called off due to severe weather.
