Doeren blames resource gaps and NIL shifts for NC State exit
Dave Doeren said the evolving name-image-likeness (NIL) environment and a lack of resources were key reasons for his departure from North Carolina State University on Oct. 24, 2026, and urged future coaches to match resources with expectations during a press briefing in Raleigh.
NC State had dismissed Doeren after a 3-4 start to the 2026 season, appointing running backs coach Todd Goebbel as interim head coach, a move confirmed by athletic director Boo Corrigan. The university also fired defensive coordinator DJ Eliot a day later as the program continued to struggle defensively.
