Dawson Mercer joins Winnipeg Jets after trade with New Jersey Devils

Resumen

Forward Dawson Mercer was traded to the Winnipeg Jets in a deal that also sent goaltender Nico Daws and draft picks to Winnipeg in exchange for Connor Hellebuyck.

Forward Dawson Mercer was informed on Friday morning at the New Jersey rink that he had been dealt to the Winnipeg Jets. He and goaltender Nico Daws traveled to Winnipeg that evening.

The trade sent Mercer, Daws, three additional players and two draft selections to Winnipeg in exchange for goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who had requested a move.

Mercer, a three-time 20-goal scorer, made his debut for the Jets against the Montreal Canadiens, recording two shots on goal.

"He is versatile, capable of playing right wing and centre, killing penalties, contributing on the power play and delivering 20-goal production," head coach Scott Arniel told the Free Press.
