Israeli military wounds Palestinian driver near Hebron, does not detain him
The Israeli military said its soldiers fired on a vehicle they deemed suspicious near Kafr Dura on 25 October, seriously wounding the driver but not taking him into custody. The shooting came after a Hamas-linked attack near Hebron on 22 October injured five people. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by ordering a full lockdown of Hebron and a travel ban across the West Bank.
Israeli forces then killed two men they said were Hamas-linked attackers, and the military described the earlier clash as a combat encounter. The operations displaced thousands of Palestinians and intensified ahead of national elections.
