Former Mavericks teammate cautions Warriors rookie after heated debut against Luka Dončić

Summary

Dallas forward Naji Marshall warned Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg on social media after Lendudorg’s confrontational performance against former teammate Luka Dončić.

Dallas Mavericks forward Naji Marshall, who played with Luka Dončić in Dallas before the guard was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, posted a warning to Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendudorg on Instagram after Lendudorg’s post-game comments. Marshall wrote, "80 ball next time they play never speak on the DON," referencing the upcoming matchup.

Lendudorg’s NBA debut for Golden State turned contentious when he and Dončić exchanged verbal barbs during the Warriors’ 127-105 loss at Crypto.com Arena. Lendudorg received a technical foul before halftime and later said, "I was telling him he sucks. He can't score on me," adding that the experience caused him to lose respect for Dončić.

Statistically, Dončić scored 28 points on 7-of-18 shooting, but managed only one field goal against Lendudorg’s primary defense and committed two turnovers in those matchups. He was perfect from the free-throw line when guarded by Lendudorg.

Lendudorg’s comments received backing from teammates, with Draymond Green encouraging him to keep speaking up, saying, "Respect, you earn respect." ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith also expressed support for Lendudorg’s stance.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again in San Francisco on Oct. 30, setting up a rematch that will test the ongoing rivalry.
