NFL reviews Jordan Elliott gun incident after Titans release player
The league is investigating former Titans defensive tackle Jordan Elliott after he retrieved a firearm from his car at a team facility, prompting his release and possible future suspension.
The National Football League confirmed it is reviewing an incident involving former Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jordan Elliott, who retrieved a firearm from his car following an altercation at practice. The Titans released Elliott after the episode, and the league said the team promptly notified officials, and the matter is under review.
"Yes. The club promptly notified the league of the matter which is under review," an NFL spokesperson said in response to a query about league scrutiny.
A source familiar with league policies described the conduct as a violation of rules that prohibit firearms in NFL facilities and noted that the rule is posted in multiple locations at each team venue.
"You aren’t allowed to have one in your car if your car is parked inside an NFL facility," the source said. "So I think it’s fairly certain that Elliott will be suspended if and when he signs with a team."
The incident underscores the league’s enforcement of its weapons policy for players and staff at team facilities.
