Subtropical Storm Josephine Expected to Bring High Surf and Flooding Along Atlantic Coast
The National Hurricane Center said it has classified an October nor'easter as Subtropical Storm Josephine, which is expected to bring high surf and coastal flooding along the Atlantic seaboard on October 22, 2026. Earlier, FOX Weather reported that Josephine, with sustained winds of 65 mph, is tracking north-northeast toward Cape Cod and is expected to produce gusty winds and brief coastal flooding before moving offshore.
The Weather Channel warned that the system could linger off the coast and generate high surf, rip currents and gusty winds from the Carolinas to New England throughout the week. NBC News added that meteorologists expect the offshore nor'easter to bring several days of rain, gusty winds and coastal flooding from New Jersey to North Carolina, while a separate Pacific system poses a flash-flood threat to the western United States.
