Travis Hunter records interception and receiving TD in Jaguars' loss to Texans

Resumen

Jaguars wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter became the first player in 24 years to record both an interception and a receiving touchdown in the same game, though Jacksonville fell 34-31 to Houston.

Travis Hunter delivered the dual-role performance he promised after entering the NFL, catching a 7-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence early in the fourth quarter and then intercepting Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud on the following drive. The play made him only the third player in Super Bowl-era history to record both a receiving touchdown and an interception in a single game, joining Brian Dawkins and Roy Green.

Despite Hunter's contributions, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Texans on a last-second field goal, finishing 34-31. Hunter finished with four receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown, three tackles and the interception.

Hunter, who was drafted to play both offense and defense, saw his role shift this season. After a rookie year in which he appeared in seven games with 298 receiving yards, a touchdown, and 15 defensive tackles, his snap distribution this year has tilted toward defense, with 79% of defensive snaps and only 7% of offensive snaps through five games.

He recorded his first career interception in Week 3 against the New England Patriots and has been a regular on the defensive side, playing 100% of defensive snaps in Weeks 4 and 5.
