Ohio State defeats Indiana 19-7 in Big Ten showdown

Résumé

Ohio State held on to beat Indiana 19-7 at Memorial Stadium, improving its conference standing while Indiana struggled with turnovers and missed scoring opportunities.

Ohio State extended its lead in the Big Ten with a 19-7 victory over Indiana at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Quarterback Julian Sayin connected with Jeremiah Smith on a 38-yard touchdown pass with 12:46 left in the fourth quarter, giving the Buckeyes a 19-7 advantage. A two-point conversion attempt by Bo Jackson was unsuccessful.

Indiana's offense was hampered by turnovers, including a fumble by quarterback Josh Hoover after a sack and an interception by Amare Ferrell. Kicker Nico Radcic missed a 55-yard field-goal attempt in the third quarter and a 32-yard try in the second, leaving the Hoosiers without points from those opportunities.

At halftime, Ohio State led 10-7 after a late fourth-down touchdown pass from Sayin to Bo Jackson. The Buckeyes' defense limited Indiana's rushing attack, holding Turbo Richard to 44 yards on 15 carries.

The win keeps Ohio State near the top of the conference race, while Indiana, despite a strong defensive record this season, fell short after a series of uncharacteristic mistakes.
