Anthropic grapples with cloud capacity shortages as November IPO approaches
Anthropic said on October 20, 2026 that it was struggling to obtain enough cloud capacity from major providers, with its cloud-spending rising as it prepared for a planned November initial public offering. Earlier in October, the company announced that it would allocate an initial 5% of its equity to a public-benefit limited liability company, with the option to increase the stake, a move that drew comments from industry leaders such as Elon Musk, who urged that the shares be given directly to the public.
The pledge, reported by several outlets, was presented as part of its preparation for a potential trillion-dollar listing. Independent analyst New Constructs, however, questioned the feasibility of a $2 trillion IPO valuation, estimating the firm’s market value could be as low as $144 billion.
