CBS legal correspondent apologizes after posting town-hall video of Senate candidate
CBS News legal affairs reporter Jan Crawford deleted a tweet that featured a video of Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s town-hall exchange, in which a heckler asked the candidate to denounce the Muslim Brotherhood, and she issued an apology citing a breach of network standards. The apology followed a series of internal disputes at CBS News.
Earlier, foreign editor Shayndi Raice was recorded admonishing staff and warning that failure to follow hierarchy could lead to dismissal, amid controversy over the network’s coverage of the Gaza conflict. In a separate meeting, senior global affairs correspondent Trevor Phillips urged colleagues to confront criticism of editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, highlighting tensions within the newsroom.
