Earlier, Seattle had simplified its playcalling to help Darnold make quicker decisions and limit turnovers.
After the 13 October overtime defeat, Darnold acknowledged his two interceptions as a key factor and pledged to improve ball security, later describing the interceptions as the primary reason for the loss. Coach Macdonald had previously affirmed that Darnold remained integral to the team while they adjusted their game plan.
