Seahawks coach says Sam Darnold remains integral to the team
Head coach Mike Macdonald affirmed his confidence in quarterback Sam Darnold despite recent interceptions, indicating the player is still part of the solution as Seattle prepares for its Week 7 matchup.
Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold has struggled since returning from a hip injury, throwing interceptions in three of his last four games and recording just 168 passing yards in a Week 4 win over the Chargers. In his five starts, Darnold has completed 60.4 percent of his passes for 1,033 yards, with seven touchdowns and a league-leading seven interceptions.
Head coach Mike Macdonald addressed speculation about a quarterback change during a press conference, reiterating the team's trust in Darnold. > "I think we have a lot of faith in Sam. Sam’s played great football for us. He’s done a lot of great things this year. We’ve obviously turned the ball over more than we want to. I feel like there’s things on our end that can help him play better football. And I think he’s definitely part of the solution, rather than the opposite," Macdonald said.
The Seahawks are also evaluating backup Drew Lock, who performed well in the season opener and the Week 2 victory over the Cardinals. Seattle will have time to regroup before hosting the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night in Week 7.
