Denmark Says US Deal Leaves Greenland Mining Ban Intact Amid Trump Exploration Push
Denmark said on 14 October that a recently signed U. S.
–Denmark–Greenland agreement does not change Greenland's existing bans on mining and oil-gas drilling, even as President Donald Trump promoted plans for large-scale exploration of the territory. Trump had announced the intended oil, gas and mineral exploration in Greenland, stressing the security advantages of the deal, while Greenland’s deputy mining minister later refuted the president’s claim that massive drilling was imminent, saying such extraction was far from reality.
