Broncos win overtime but quarterback Bo Nix faces criticism
Denver defeated Seattle 17-14 in overtime, yet quarterback Bo Nix was criticized for a modest passing performance.
Denver secured a 17-14 overtime victory over Seattle on Thursday, but the win did not shield quarterback Bo Nix from criticism of his passing output. Former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, appearing on the Prime Video postgame show, described Nix’s performance as "garbage."
The Broncos amassed 153 yards on two early touchdown drives that gave them a 14-0 lead, but managed only two first downs for the remainder of the game and punted seven times, allowing Seattle to force overtime. Nix completed 17 of 27 passes for 107 yards, with the longest gain being a 16-yard pass. He said the conservative approach was not intentional and expressed confusion over the team’s inability to attack vertically.
"We’re definitely capable. We’ve shown it and I don’t know where the disconnect is right now to be honest with you... I just think we’re really, for some reason, struggling to find those explosive plays and that’s what makes an offense really spectacular — finding explosive plays. And right now we don’t have those," Nix said.
The quarterback acknowledged the need for more explosive plays to balance the offense with the defense.
