Apple and Schneider Electric unveil smart thermostat with iPhone integration

Resumen

Apple and Schneider Electric introduced a HomeKit thermostat that uses iPhone data to adjust temperatures and can shift energy use to cheaper, cleaner periods, launching in the US and Canada in early 2027.

Apple and Schneider Electric have announced a new smart thermostat for the Apple Home Collection, slated for release in the United States and Canada in early 2027. The device integrates with the Apple Home app, requiring no separate account, and can be controlled via Siri. Its Adaptive Temperature feature leverages iPhone location data to automatically adjust heating and cooling based on occupancy and sleep patterns, eliminating the need for manual scheduling.

The thermostat also includes a Clean Energy Guidance function that aims to move energy consumption to lower-cost, cleaner periods for users with compatible utility plans. The Home app will display energy-use insights and indicate peak and off-peak rates.

Optional room sensors, priced at $39.99, measure temperature and humidity, while additional sensors built into HomeView, HomePod, and HomePod mini can also be used. The product supports the Matter connectivity standard and Thread, ensuring continued operation during internet outages, and features NFC pairing for quick setup. All data transmitted through the Home app is end-to-end encrypted.

Schneider Electric also revealed three magnetic power mounts for Apple’s wall-mounted HomeView, priced between $59.99 and $129.99, with the USB-C and AC models arriving in Apple stores on November 13 and the Ethernet version expected in early 2027. Further details are planned for presentation at CES 2027 in Las Vegas.
