Brewers sweep NLCS, clinch World Series berth
NBC News reported that the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 in Game 4 on 16 October, completing a 4-0 sweep of the National League Championship Series and securing a berth in the 2026 World Series. Earlier in the series, the Brewers took a 2-0 lead with a 7-4 win on 12 October, highlighted by William Contreras’ multi-hit performance and a tying home run, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and The Guardian. Los Angeles starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto lasted only 2⅔ innings in that game, Yahoo Sports noted, prompting manager Dave Roberts to consider benching Shohei Ohtani, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
The Brewers extended their dominance in Game 3, winning 6-2 with a leadoff homer by Jackson Chourio and additional homers, Yahoo reported, while the Los Angeles Times and Defector described Jake Bauers’ two-run shot that gave Milwaukee a 3-2 lead. By Game 3 the Brewers led the series 3-0 and were poised to close it out, Yahoo Sports said, and Dodgers first baseman Max Muncy urged fans to fill Dodger Stadium for the remaining games, Dodger Blue noted.
