Selma Blair, who was arrested on a Delta flight and charged with two counts of second-degree assault, said a medical emergency caused her actions and that she did not intend to harm anyone, according to a statement released on October 16. CNN reported that she was detained at John F. Kennedy International Airport after allegedly kicking a police officer and a nurse during the incident. Variety noted that she was released on $20,000 bail after appearing in Queens Criminal Court.

Fox News cited her attorney, who said the confusion stemmed from missed doses of her multiple sclerosis medication. Page Six mentioned that her boyfriend, Andy Kiernan, asked the public to pray for her. Both Variety and NBC News quoted her spokesperson, who emphasized the medical emergency and denied any intent to harm.
