Nathan Fielder's Documentary on Elizabeth Holmes Premieres Nationwide
The new film "You Can See Everything," co-directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, offers unprecedented access to Elizabeth Holmes and her partner William Evans before her 2023 incarceration, and opens in U.S. theaters on Friday.
Nathan Fielder's latest documentary, "You Can See Everything," debuted in U.S. theaters on Friday. The film, co-directed with Lance Oppenheim, follows Elizabeth Holmes and her partner William "Billy" Evans in the days leading up to Holmes' reporting to federal prison in 2023. Holmes, who allowed more than 200 camera captures of her likeness, appears on screen expressing discomfort with her public image, saying, "I have a weird history with being on camera," while she cries.
The documentary also reveals that Holmes and Evans are preparing to launch a new healthcare venture they refer to as Theranos 2.0, and they have created a digital replica of Holmes that can be used for presentations while she is incarcerated. The film includes intimate moments with the couple, such as Evans showering, and features a surprise participant introduced midway through the narrative who comments, "We’re working in Fiction Land."
Fielder, known for his previous series "Nathan for You" and "The Rehearsal," appears on camera discussing his own uncertainties about the project and his relationship with Holmes. The documentary blends conventional footage with staged sequences, occasionally showing the production crew and equipment to highlight the interplay between reality and recreation.
In the closing scenes, as Holmes prepares to depart for prison in Texas, Fielder offers a light-hearted gesture and encourages her, saying, "You’ve got this." The film has generated significant pre-release discussion, with some critics speculating about awards potential.
