Complainant testifies in Russell Brand rape trial in London
On 12 October, during the fourth day of his trial at Southwark Crown Court in London, a woman identified as Complainant 1 testified that Russell Brand raped her in a hotel room in 1999, while the comedian denied the accusation. Brand had pleaded not guilty to six counts of rape, indecent assault and sexual assault involving six women.
The trial began earlier in the month and was expected to run for up to ten weeks. At the opening, a prosecutor described Brand as a “ruthless” sexual predator.
