Ego Nwodim Reacts to Shane Gillis' Gym Shorts Remarks on Instagram

Résumé

Former SNL cast member Ego Nwodim posted a satirical Instagram story in response to Shane Gillis' monologue that described women in short gym shorts as "whores," sparking further online debate.

Former Saturday Night Live performer Ego Nwodim posted an Instagram story on Monday that mocked comedian Shane Gillis' recent monologue, in which he said women who wear short shorts at the gym are dressing like "whores." Nwodim shared a photo of herself in workout attire and captioned it, "Whore reporting for duty," before posting a picture of her post-exercise meal with the comment, "Getting my 30 grams of protein in after heauxing," noting that "heauxing" is slang for "whoring."

Gillis' seven-minute monologue, delivered during his latest hosting stint, described women’s gym shorts as "neon, artificial-vape colored" and suggested men should not be allowed to look at women wearing them. The remarks drew criticism online, with some describing the comments as tone-deaf.

Actor Dan Levy also weighed in on the issue, posting a selfie-video on Instagram in which he said, "Women wearing short shorts at the gym does not make them whores. It makes the men calling them whores misogynists," and urged men to support women more often.

Gillis, who has hosted the show three times, was previously dismissed from the SNL cast in 2019 after past racist jokes from his podcast resurfaced. Nwodim was a cast member from 2018 to 2025, known for recurring characters such as Miss Eggy and Lisa from Temecula.
